River of Pinwheels

Last year I bought a little Sony Cyber-shot digital camera because my Fuji Finepix was too big to lug around. I bought it for a trip to Jacksonville in October, but I really haven't used it much since then. I recently began carrying it around with me because I want to be more conscious of interesting things I might see around me.

On Sunday, while returning home from shopping, we drove by Larz Anderson Park, in Brookline, Massachusetts. There was a river of pinwheels -- hundreds of them -- arranged on the lawn. Blaine did a u-turn back to the park for me so I could climb over the fence and take some pictures.

The pinwheels are an installation called “Art on the Wind,” by Katrina Majkut. They're made from recycled 2-liter soda bottles. The purpose of the exhibit is to raise awareness for alternative energy sources.
